BRANCHES OUTSIDE OF CRACOW - TARNÓW

ARCHIVAL COLLECTION


The archival collection of the Tarnów Branch comprises 443 archival funds, that is 1981 metres, i.e. 94,197 archival units in the years 1620-2000 (as of 31 December 2002) and a library collection comprising about 3800 books. The files come from the area of the former Tarnów, D_browa and Dębica counties. The oldest funds include the files of the Tarnów guilds and craftsmen associations since 1620; family and estate archives of the Konopka family from Breń (1785-1945), the Zaręba and Cielecki families (17th-19th century) and the Zborowski family from Partynia (18th-19thcentury); files of Middle School I in Tarnów (1783-1945). Other collections are also worth mentioning: "Tarnoviana" (17th-20th century) materials to a history of scouting (ZHP - Association of Polish Scouting), the Kasprzyk family files (1890-1981) and the collections of the well-known Social Democrat activist, Jerzy Braun (1901-1975).

The most often used are, coming from the 19th and 20th century, the files of towns and communes, the files of the Israelite Commune in Tarnów and D_browa Tarnowska and court files. Files of well-known cultural institutions are also of interest: the Ludwik Solski Cracow Regional Theatre in Tarnów (1948-1956), the Tarnów Museum (1945-1975), the Pedagogical Library (1951-1975) and larger Tarnów companies including: the Nitrogen Plant in Mościce (1929-1961), Tamel Electric Engine Plant in Tarnów (1949-1982), the Cellulose Plant in Niedomice (1936-1994), the Igloopol Agriculture-Industrial Plant in Dębica (1950-1994) and the Carpathian Regional Gas Company in Tarnów (1957-1978)
